Plan C
The best choice
The cultivation of Japanese oats after spring barley in 2009 decreased the infestation to such an extent that damage in 2010 remained restricted. Sugar beet is a poor host for P. penetrans, which makes it more suitable as preceding crop for potatoes than maize. The infestation that remained after the cultivation of maize and perennialy ryegrass as green manure crop has been reduced considerably by the sugar beet crop but application of a granule is still cost-effective for the best possible potato yield loss restriction.
