Demo mixed infestation

Plan C

The best choice

Growing of the Innovator cultivar directly resulted in a good suppression of the pallida infestation. This means that yield loss caused by this nematode is very small. Because no green manure crop has been grown after the winter wheat the populations of M. chitwoodi and P. penetrans are both decreasing. Tulips are no host for M. chitwoodi; this results in a further decrease in population. P. penetrans does reproduce on tulips but the long fallow period after this crop means a reasonable population decrease before potatoes are grown again in 2014. P. penetrans causes some more damage in the potato crop than in scenario B. But because the M. chitwoodi population remains much lower than in scenario B, this scenario is to be preferred.
